Clintons Reap what they Sow

April 7th, 2008 · 2 Comments

According to news reports, Bill Clinton is aghast at the fact that New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson endorsed Obama for president.  Most ordinary Americans would be vexed at the thought of a close ally throwing support to a competitor.  After all, Bill Richardson owes his career to Bill Clinton.  As president, Clinton appointed Richardson as UN Ambassador and Secretary of Energy.  It could be argued that Richardson would not be where he is today if not for Clinton’s help.

Frankly, TPB finds it very interesting that the Clintons are surprised.  After all, it is politics.  Their startled reaction underscores the sense of entitlement the couple have. It seems the Clintons truly believe themselves to be the Democratic Party’s North Star.  It kind of puts James Carville’s foolish jab about Richardson being “Judas” into perspective.  Following that logic, the Clintons are the Democrats’ political Messiah.  What a load of compost that is!  And, to be completely candid about it, insulting to Christians.

Don’t get me wrong, loyalty is vitally important among allies.  But with the Clinton’s loyalty is a one-way street and Richardson knows that.  How many people have gone to jail or worse for the Clintons?  Susan McDougal went to prison for two years after refusing to testify about the President’s involvement in Whitewater.  Susan McDougal, for her efforts was rewarded with a full Presidential pardon from outgoing President Clinton in his final hours in the White House.  Her former husband, Jim McDougal wasn’t so lucky when he agreed to cooperate with the Whitewater investigation.  Not only did Jim McDougal go to jail after he cooperated, but he died of a heart attack in prison.  Stories surfaced that McDougal died after he was denied heart medication and put in solitary confinement without medication.  Chilling.

Richardson was likely too relieved to hitch onto the Obama train.  Although Bill Richardson owes his career to Clinton, there’s no reason he should go down with the ship.  He knows if they were in his place, the Clintons would jump ship too and abandon him in a heartbeat.

According superdelegate Chris Stampolis, Clinton said only that Richardson had promised not to endorse Obama, saying, “‘He told me to my face five times he would not do that.’”*  With the tide of public opinion still going towards Obama, Richardson saw his chance to break free from the Clintons, gain political favor with Obama (and possibly the Vice Presidency) and took it very publicly.   Bill Clinton hasn’t taken Richardson’s “betrayal” very well.  Clearly, the Clintons are used to getting what they want.  After all, people have been willing to sacrifice their own personal freedom for the Clintons.  Richardson is only the beginning of the Clintons’ reaping what they’ve sowed.  In the coming weeks, the real show will begin when the avalanche of Superdelegates fall behind Obama.

When persons, like the Clintons, insist on friendship and loyal from those around them and attempt to punish them when they move away, that is called slavery in our America. That’s slavery with CHAINS, no less.
