Unalienable Rights

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our prosperity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Preamble to the Constitution of the United States 

The Constitution of the United States is the cornerstone document and unifying strength upon which our country was founded.  It is the power and influence behind what our nation stands for and is the underlying principle for the legal authority of the federal government of the United States.   The Founding Fathers penned the Constitution with appropriate “checks and balances” between the three branches of government to prevent the abuse of power.  In the words of James Madison “ambition must be made to counteract ambition.”  

This Administration’s continuous assault and attempt to dismantle the Constitution to promote an unwanted ideology continues to paralyze this country.  The Founding Fathers, all too familiar with the “supremacy rule” of the European nations, consciously called for the separation of powers within our government to prevent the “violence of the majority faction” over another.

As prescribed in the Declaration of Independence “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, —That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.” 

Upholding unalienable rights are at the heart of the current Tea Party movement. Freedom is an unstoppable force.  May the Blessings of Liberty ring from sea to shining sea.
